Earlier this week, inspection drone maker Flyability released a training simulator for its Elios 3 drone. The simulator is designed to get pilots to a level where they can efficiently operate Elios 3 in simulated industrial assets.
The simulator is a welcome addition from Flyability as it allows pilots to feel more comfortable while flying the Elios 3 at their own pace, removes the risk of damaging the Elios 3, and reduce the strain on precious flight hours.
The simulator is made up of three main training sections, all skills guided training, free flights, and an introduction to limits.
All skills guided training is designed for new and veteran pilots and will walk you through a number of training videos, practice quizzes, and practice flights in certain environments.
Free flights allows pilots to fly freely in the provided environments allowing them to explore and fly the drone on their own. This allows pilots to get a better feel for the drone in open environments.
Introduction to limits allows pilots to push the Elios 3 to its limits in a virtual environment removing the risk of damaging the drone. This mode will put pilot skills to the test in the harshest of environments.
How to download the simulator
The simulator is free for all Elios 3 owners and can be downloaded via Flyability's website. An apk file will be downloaded upon completion of the form and will allow the simulator app to be installed on any Android mobile device. To use the simulator, the Elios 3 ground station is required, it does not work with any other ground stations or controllers.
