Expert repairs to get your drones back in the air

Sphere Drones is your trusted destination for professional drone repair services across Australia. We understand the vital role that drones play in capturing important data - that's why we emphasise the importance of entrusting your valuable assets to our team of skilled technicians.

Simply drop off or ship your drone to one of our locations in Sydney or Perth, and our technicians will swiftly assess the damage and provide you with a transparent evaluation of the necessary repairs. With our streamlined processes and quick turnaround times, you could have your drone repaired and back in action in as little as 7 business days.

How it works

  1. Request Repair

Fill out the repair enquiry form below.

  2. Send or drop off your drone and assets

Our team will contact you after reviewing your enquiry. After an assessment fee is paid, you have the option to drop off your assets at our offices in Sydney or Perth, or we can organise for your assets to be shipped to us.

  3. Drone assessed and quote created

After we receive your assets, an authorised technician will assess the issues and we will provide a quote if they are deemed repairable. Once you have approved the quote and invoice is paid, our team will begin scheduling repairs.

  4. Repairs conducted

The typical repair process will take up to 7 business days. However, depending on the drone model, extent of required repairs, or if any parts need to be sourced, the process may take up to 4 weeks.

  5. Repaired drone and assets returned

Our technicians will run final tests to make sure your assets are in flying order. Your assets are ready to be shipped back to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

The typical repair process may take up to 7 business days. However, depending on the drone model, extent of required repairs, or if any additional parts need to be sourced, the process may take up to 4 weeks.

What is the assessment fee and what does it cover?

The assessment fee is $150 (inclusive of GST), which ensures the safe delivery and assessment of your drone and other assets. The assessment fee covers:

  • Overnight shipping and handling of your assets to and from our repair centre
  • Preliminary assessment

After our team assesses your assets and proceeds with the repairs, $50 from the assessment fee will be used towards covering the repair costs.

How is the cost of the repair determined?

Repair costs are determined after our technicians' initial assessments are performed at our repair centre. A number of factors are taken into account to determine the total repair cost, including your drone’s make and model, the extent of damage to your drone, plus the labour costs and any additional parts, if applicable.

What do I need to provide to Sphere Drones for the repair?

Please ensure when you drop off or ship your assets to us for repair to provide the following:

  • Drone (updated with the latest firmware)
  • Drone’s remote controller
  • Drone batteries (for safety reasons, we do not accept damaged or unhealthy batteries)

Additionally, please ensure any payloads and accessories not listed above (e.g. memory cards) are removed from your drone and kept in your possession throughout this process unless instructed otherwise by a team member.

Why should I update my drone’s firmware before providing my assets for repair, and how do I do it?

Keeping your drone’s firmware up-to-date helps mitigate performance bugs and glitches which may affect our team’s ability to assess, repair, and test your drone.

You can update your drone’s firmware through your drone manufacturer’s app. If you are having trouble, please contact us and we will help you install the latest firmware.

What happens if my drone can’t be repaired?

If our technicians determine that your drone cannot be repaired, or the quote provided by our team isn’t approved, we will organise for your assets to be shipped back to you in the same condition that they were provided to us.

Does my repaired drone come with a repair warranty?

Yes, however the length of the repair warranty differs between manufacturers. Please contact one of our team members for more details.

How much is the assessment fee and what does it cover?

The Assessment Fee is $150.00 (inc. GST) and includes overnight shipping and handling to and from our repair centre. This fee includes:

  • Asset registration

  • Case initialisation

  • Case management

  • Shipping and handling to and from the repair centre

What Do I need to Send to Sphere drones?

  • Drone
  • Controller
  • Any other additional parts can be included only if damaged and requiring repair or as instructed by the Sphere Team.

Please ensure that assets are packed securely to prevent damage during transport.

How do you determine repair costs?

Any and all costs will be determined once we have had a chance to extensively review the equipment damage and determine labour costs and parts required. It will also be dependent on the equipment make and model as costs can vary between sizes and brands.

How long does the repair process normally take?

This will, of course, be dependent on the extent of damage as well as lead times on securing required parts. It will also be dependent on the backlog of repairs we may have at any given time. As a guide, however, we estimate a turn-around of 3-4 weeks.

Why do I need to update my firmware and how do I do it?

It is important your firmware is updated in order to avoid equipment bugs and glitches. As important, your drone’s range and accessible height can be impacted if you don’t have the latest firmware. This is particularly relevant to newer drones. Firmware updates also tweak and improve the user interface. You can install the latest firmware via both the DJI GO/GO 4/DJI Fly app or the DJI Assistant 2 for the newer generation drones. Otherwise, please contact us and we can help.

Why do I need to provide my address?

We request your residential address to organise shipping to and from our repair centre. Once your repair case is created by submitting the repair request form above, the Sphere Drones Support Team will provide you with a shipping label to ship your drone and/or accessories to our repair centre. Once the repair is complete, the drone and anything else you sent us will be shipped back to the provided address unless asked differently.
