We recently shared that CASA had delayed its drone registration levy from its original introductory date of 1 July 2021. CASA has now announced that the drone registration levy will be introduced from 27 July 2021.
The levy
From 27 July 2021, for drones flown for business or as part of your job:
- 500 g or less, there will continue to be no annual charge
- more than 500 g, an annual registration levy of $40 per drone.
What this means
The registration levy applies to new or renewed registrations on or after 27 July 2021. Drones registered before this date, will be free for the initial registration period. Registration is valid for 12 months.
