Sydney, Australia – April 5th, 2022 – Sphere Drones is pleased to announce that it is now a member of the Robotics Australia Group (RAG). The news comes a month after Sphere Drones announced its partnership with LiDAR solutions provider YellowScan.
Joining RAG will allow Sphere Drones to expand its reach in the landborne robotics space and work together with other companies on the future of the technology in Australia.
Sphere Drones is excited to be a member of the Robotics Group Ausrtalia. We can't wait to collaborate with many great companies across a wide range of industries and further develop the technology and presence of landborne robots in Australia, said Paris Cockinos, CEO Sphere Drones.
The Robotics Australia Group is building a sustainable robotics industry in Australia by supporting the entire robotics ecosystem, from the companies building robots to those researching and developing new robotic technologies, robotics educators and enthusiasts, and the companies looking to adopt robots and robotics-related technologies.
When we hear the word ‘robot’, the likes of The Jetsons, Star Wars or Transformers may first come to mind, but we are well beyond science fiction. Robotics in Australia is at the tipping point of the adoption cycle. It has and will continue to grow across all industries affecting future careers and our day-to-day lives.
At Sphere Drones, we have robots in the air, on land, and under water. While the air domain is heavily regulated, we want to contribute our expertise through policy discussions surrounding the land and water domains; training operators, building frameworks and improving safety. What better way to connect our ecosystem and share a wealth of knowledge with the peak robotics organisation in Australia, Robotics Australia Group, stated Steven Kassiou, Solution Specialist Sphere Drones.

About Robotics Australia Group
Following the initial setup of the Sixth Wave Alliance (SWA) in early 2018, its founding members have been interacting, initiating partnerships and enquiring on the best direction of the alliance. As it has become clear that despite the robotics industry in Australia being world-class in some areas, it is highly fragmented and requires a more focussed, collaborative approach to gain visibility and traction within critical Australian industry supply chains.
We are building a National Robotics Network. As interest grew from other parties since the SWA inception, a new meeting was proposed to gather all those interested in discussing SWA’s future direction with a view of it serving as a National Robotics Network.
As a result, over 60 people met face-to-face at CSIRO’s Queensland Centre for Advanced Technologies (QCAT) on 27 November 2019 – joined by more than 30 others via web conference – to learn and discuss the creation of an independent National Robotics Network.
