DJI Mavic 3 Pro is the latest edition to the Mavic 3 line up with two more cameras and a number of key upgrades over the Mavic 2 Pro released in late 2018. From improved flight time and an updated camera system let's look at how the two Mavic Pro drones compare.
Camera system
The Mavic 3 Pro's camera system boasts an impressive array of features that are sure to delight professional aerial photographers and videographers. With a 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad sensor, the camera delivers stunning 20 MP photos that are rich in detail and clarity. The video capabilities are equally impressive, with 5.1k resolution at 50fps and 4k resolution at 120fps, allowing for smooth and cinematic footage.
Slow motion enthusiasts will appreciate the FHD 200 fps capability for capturing captivating slow-motion sequences. The camera also offers 1-3x digital zoom, allowing for versatile framing options. The electronic shutter with a range of 8–1/8000s ensures precise exposure control. The field of view (FOV) is 84°, equivalent to a 35mm focal length of 24mm, providing a wide perspective for capturing expansive landscapes.
In addition, the Mavic 3 Pro's camera system includes a 1/1.3" CMOS medium tele sensor with 12/48MP photo capability, 4k video at 60fps, and 3-7x digital zoom. This camera has an electronic shutter with a range of 2–1/8000s and a FOV of 35°, equivalent to a 35mm focal length of 70mm, making it ideal for capturing detailed shots from a distance.
The Mavic 3 Pro's camera system includes a 1/2" CMOS tele camera with a 12 MP photo capability, 4k video at 60fps, and 7-28x digital zoom. The electronic shutter offers a range of 2–1/8000s for precise exposure control. With a narrow field of view (FOV) of 15°, equivalent to a 35mm focal length of 166mm, this camera is perfect for capturing distant subjects with clarity and detail, making it ideal for wildlife photography, sports events, and other scenarios that require shooting from a distance.
Mavic 3 Pro comes with 8GBs of internal storage, while Mavic 3 Pro Cine comes with a 1TB SDD built in. Both support MicroSD cards up to 512GB. Mavic 3 Pro Cine supports Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Apple ProRes 422, and Apple ProRes 422 LT, offering professional-grade video recording options for cinematographers.
Flight system
The Mavic 3 Pro and Mavic 3 Pro Cine offer exceptional flight performance for capturing stunning aerial footage. With O3+ video transmission, these drones provide a reliable and low-latency connection for seamless live video streaming. The maximum video transmission range is an impressive 15km, allowing for extended flight distances. The drones also boast an extended flight time of up to 43 minutes, enabling longer flight sessions for capturing more content.
Despite their advanced features, the Mavic 3 Pro weighs just 958 grams, while the Mavic 3 Pro Cine weighs slightly more at 963 grams, making them lightweight and agile in the air. With a maximum flight speed of 75.6km/h, these drones can quickly cover ground and capture fast-paced action. Additionally, the drones are equipped with omnidirectional obstacle sensing, providing enhanced safety during flight by detecting and avoiding obstacles in all directions. This allows for more confident and worry-free flying, especially in complex environments.
