Direct data comparison between satellite and drone imagery

Combined with the bands in RedEdge-MX, the 10 bands in the Dual Camera System enable direct comparison between satellite and drone data. With the Dual Camera System, users don’t need to upgrade their drone platform or processing pipeline – the RedEdge-MX Blue integrates seamlessly with the RedEdge-MX and available processing workflows to create a simple and accurate 10-band solution.

Flying with two cameras is as easy as flying with one. This solution is compatible with a wide range of aircraft, from large fixed wings to small multirotors, and comes standard with an integration kit for DJI drones.

Because the two cameras are both versions of RedEdge-MX, flight planning and data processing can be done with industry-standard tools like Pix4D and Agisoft.

Double the bands mean double the analytical capabilities. This solution captures synchronized, pixel-aligned imagery which allows the bands from both cameras to be used interchangeably for the creation of more indices.

MicaSense has released the RedEdge-MX dual-camera imaging system, a 10-band multispectral solution designed for aerial applications such as coastline monitoring, vegetation research and drone/satellite imagery comparisons. Consisting of two cameras yet utilizing the same workflow as one, the Dual Camera System is the easiest way to capture the data needed for cutting-edge vegetation research and drone/satellite comparisons. Along with the standard bands of the RedEdge-MX, the RedEdge-MX Blue offers a group of five filters, including a coastal blue band and two new red edge bands. With uses like shallow-water environmental monitoring and detailed chlorophyll efficiency analysis, twice the available bands truly means twice the analytical capabilities. Additionally, this is the first solution that captures the bands of Landsat 8 and Sentinel satellites enabling direct data comparison between satellite and drone data. With this solution, researchers and agricultural enterprises can now directly compare drone and satellite imagery to model trends and better predict yield into the future.
