The DJI RC Plus 2 was initially released alongside the DJI Agras T100 and T70 drones in China and later made its way to the international market alongside the Matrice 4 series.
DJI RC Plus 2 sports a new model number, TKPL 2, which doesn't follow the same naming convention as the previous RC Plus model, RM700B.
The biggest change to the DJI RC Plus 2 is the change to the improved OcuSync 4 Enterprise transmission system. This upgrade allows the DJI Matrice 4 series to fly up to 25km assuming interference isn't affecting range and regulations are followed. This is a 10km boost over the 10km boost over the Matrice 30 series' 15km range and a 5km boost over the Matrice 350's range of 20km.
The built-in battery on the RC Plus 2 has received a boost, taking operating time to 3.8 hours from the previous 3.3 hours. Both remote controllers support an external WB37 battery, adding up to a total of 7 hours operating time for RC Plus 2 and 6 for RC Plus.
The location of the ports has been updated with the new RC. The RC 2 moves the HDMI and USB-A ports to the outer edges of the top of the casing with the micro-SD card and USB-C ports moving to the bottom. Along the top, DJI has also added two new mounting points for accessories. The rubber bumpers along the top corners have increased in size as well.
The display has received a bump in brightness taking it to 1400 nits compared to 1200 nits on the previous model.
Additionally, the shell uses a light grey colour and the Bluetooth version has been bumped from 5.1 to 5.2, which brings a number of minor stability improvements.
Both remote controllers use the same 7" 1920x1200 display and support micro-SD cards for additional on-board storage. While the ports have moved, the selection remains the same.
DJI has also kept the same buttons across both controllers as well as support for the same WB37 external batteries for extended operational time without needing to recharge. As long as the internal battery on both controllers aren't empty, the WB37 battery can be hot swapped.
The DJI RC Plus 2 currently supports the following list of drones. It's important to note, because the RC Plus 2 is the current enterprise controller model this list will continue to be updated as new supported products are released. A general rule of thumb is that if the drone uses the same version of DJI's OcuSync (O) transmission standard that it will likely be compatible with the controller that uses the same standard.
The DJI RC Plus supports the following drones. This list is finalised as the RC Plus is the most current version. There is also a seperate RC Plus model designed for use with the DJI Inspire 3 drone.
