At the end of 2021 RDI Technologies announced a new partnership that sees the Boston Dynamics Spot robot dog equipped with its Motion Amplification® technology allowing Spot to autonomously perform Motion Amplification® and full vibration measurements.
Easy capture, accurate data
Spot can easily be set up for a mission, and at each waypoint, RDI’s non-contact camera-based vibration software will automatically collect and measure any predefined measurement location. Vibration data collection and Motion Amplification® have never been easier. Leverage Spot to collect vibration data in hazardous areas or manually control Spot to collect data from a remote location. Motion Amplification® technology gives you a record of the full scene.
You can make measurements anywhere in the field of view with full-field vibration, even if it wasn’t a predetermined measurement location. Select any location in the video after Spot has already collected the data. With RDI’s Motion Amplification® and Spot, you can see and measure everywhere without having to be there.
Benefits of autonomous motion capture
Being able to detect abnormal vibrations and movement within equipment is important across many industries and companies but being able to do it autonomously around the clock has many benefits, including:
- Humans are completely removed from the equation, reducing the risk of injury or death caused by damaged equipment.
- Spot can autonomously take measurements meaning capturing high quality data at a faster rate at more often intervals.
- Inaccessible or areas too dangerous for humans to enter can now be checked, improving safety of a site, and giving the team more data points to work from.
