Welcome to the first episode in our Drone-in-a-Box Web Series. In this series, we will cover all you need to know about Drone-in-a-Box (DiaB) solutions, how they can enhance everyday tasks, and how you can integrate it into your operations.
What is a Drone-in-a-Box?
A Drone-in-a-Box or, in short form, DiaB is a docking station that allows a drone to operate autonomously, transitioning the pilot into a control room to monitor operations. DiaB solutions are often weather-proof, allow for power and data transfer, and are fitted with a number of sensors for improved situational awareness and location monitoring.
"By 2030 I expect for there to be over 40,000 autonomous drones operating across various industries in our community."
- Sphere Drones CEO, Paris Cockinos (watch presentation)
The specific DiaB unit shown in the video below is the DJI Dock from drone giant DJI. The dock houses a DJI Matrice 30T drone, allowing RGB and thermal data to be captured autonomously and integrates with its in-house flight operation software DJI FlightHub.
Combining the versatility and convenience of the DJI Dock, and the combination of payloads of the Matrice 30T, this solution takes mining, security, agriculture, and delivery operations to the next level.
Hover around for future episodes where we will touch on topics such as what you can expect in a DJI dock and take it for a test out in the field in Wagga Wagga.
